This was a difficult decision to make. As an indie author, Amazon's Kindle Unlimited provides over half of the sales for each of the other novels in the Stormfall universe - and a book cannot be offered on Kindle Unlimited and on competing book sales sites at the same time. Amazon was and remains the largest online book retailer in the world. That Kindle Unlimited revenue would be very difficult to replace without a far larger marketing budget than most indie authors can contemplate.

The reasoning for marketing the Prequel in this fashion was therefore to hopefully draw interest to the series across a wider audience, while still maintaining the other books exclusively through Amazon. Hopefully this dual-track strategy pays off in the long run.

Wolves of Stormfall Prequel: Seventh Draft Completed & Ready for Release

The final draft for the Prequel to the Wolves of Stormfall is done! This is the seventh draft for A Wolf Also Cries, totaling 44,300 words. This makes it the shortest of the books in the series, completing Callisto's story. The eBook has been uploaded to Amazon for release on September 30th, and the paperback edition will be released on the same day.

This will be the first and only book in the series to also be released on Barnes & Noble as well as Kobo - which means it will not be available on Kindle Unlimited. I'm hoping that "going wide" with the Prequel to the series will help to bring the Wolves of Stormfall to a wider audience.

Seventh Draft Complete and Loaded for Release Day

The final round of edits for Book 3 of the Wolves of Stormfall is done! The seventh draft for A Wolf Follows the Tempest totals some 107,000 words, compared to 106,900 words after the previous round of edits. The eBook text has been uploaded to Amazon for release on July 20th, and the paperback edition will be released on the same day.

In parallel, I have also completed the fourth draft for the Wolves of Stormfall prequel, which now totals some 36,400 words, compared to 29,500 words under the previous draft.

Happy to be rounding out Callisto's story.

Although there is a romance subplot in this novel, I would classify it as being secondary to the story. This will be the third book in the series, but the novel should be able to stand on its own - without having to read any of the prior books.

I can make a copy of the first two books available for any beta-reader who wants to read the earlier novels - but it shouldn't be necessary before reading this book.

Fifth Draft for Book 3 in the Wolves of Stormfall

The fifth draft for Book 3 of the Wolves of Stormfall series has been completed. The word count increased from 101,100 to 105,200 words between the fourth and fifth round of edits. It's feeling much more like a complete story now.

Next up will be to find beta readers, and get the cover design underway. Looking forward to tying up loose ends and bringing some closure to Callisto's story.

Fourth Draft for Book 3 in the Wolves of Stormfall

I've now completed the fourth draft for Book 3 of the Wolves of Stormfall series. Most of the details, the chapters, the character arcs, are all there now. Just needs refinement.

Book 3 went from 89,800 words under the third draft, to 101,100 words under the fourth. So many more gaps have been filled. The next round of edits should be the last before I release the book for beta reader review.

Third Draft for Book 3 of the Wolves of Stormfall

I've just completed the third draft for Book 3 of the Wolves of Stormfall series. It's finally beginning to feel like the pace has picked up to where it should be.

Book 3 went from 73,700 words under the second draft, to 89,800 words today. The story feels much more fleshed out now, with so many gaps filled in. The next round of edits will hopefully get me closer to the point where it's ready to release to beta readers.

I've finally completed the second draft for Book 3 of the Wolves of Stormfall. It's been a slower process than I would have liked, but it's finally crossed that milestone. Book 3 in this series went from 35,700 words under the first draft, to 73,700 words under the second draft. Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.
